AWF Premieres on PBS This Month

Dear Friends,
As the 100 Days of Hope continues, we are thrilled to share that ‘As We Forgive’ is making its broadcast premiere on PBS!  This month, public television stations across the country will begin airing AWF in honor of the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. We are incredibly excited for Rwanda’s story of radical reconciliation to reach what we hope will be millions of homes. Several dates and times have already been announced and are available here on our website. Check back often as we get information on new dates and times every day!  If you don’t see your area listed, please call your local PBS station and request AWF to be programmed!!  We hope that you will help us in spreading the word when it airs in your area.

Nashville Premiere!
We are excited to further celebrate the 100 Days of Hope at the Nashville premiere of AWF at the Belcourt Theater next Thursday, May 21. The event is sponsored by Mocha Club, a Nashville-based organization that raises funding for worthy African projects and spreads awareness of the joy and hope that exist in Africa. The event will kick off with a musical performance by the Kopecky Family Band.  All proceeds of ticket sales go to benefit the Living Bricks Campaign!  For more information visit our website or purchase tickets at www.belcourt.org.

And don’t forget to check out our new site for the Living Bricks Campaign where you can join Rwanda’s effort to reconcile survivors and ex-prisoners by helping to build a village of reconciliation: www.LivingBricksCampaign.org

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement as we seek to tell this story across the world!

Sincerely,

Laura

Bishop John joins AWF in Birmingham, AL

On Feb. 9th and 10th, we had the pleasure of being hosted in Birmingham, AL for two screenings with Bishop John Rucyahana, a key player in Rwanda’s reconciliation process and a featured contributor to As We Forgive.

Our first screening was Monday night, Feb. 9 on Samford University’s campus as part of their ‘Reel Justice’ series.  In addition to Bishop John, we were also joined by our friends Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee.  Brewing fairly traded Rwandan coffee, Land of a Thousand Hills helped us all enjoy the “tastes” of Rwanda while screening the film.

Following the screening, Bishop John and Laura fielded thoughtful questions on topics ranging from the film’s creation to the continuing progress of reconciliation taking place in Rwanda today.  Here is a clip from just one of many inspirational moments Bishop John provided throughout the trip.

Laura was also on hand to introduce Bishop John for Samford’s Convocation on Tuesday morning.  Following convocation, Laura and Bishop John joined students and faculty at Samford’s Rotunda to engage in dialogue on how the future generation can learn from looking at Rwanda’s progress in the 15 years since the genocide and their present engagement in radical reconciliation.

We concluded our time in Birmingham with a dinner and screening at St. Peter’s Anglican Church on Tuesday night.  Again joined by Bishop John and our friends at Land of a Thousand Hills coffee, the screening was a great celebration of the path the reconciliation taking place in Rwanda today.

Thank you to all who were involved in making these screenings such a success!

We are looking forward to more adventures in the near future.  Check our calendar to see if there is a screening near you soon!

Sincerely,

The AWF Team
